It's been a crazy time. My husband is looking for a new job that doesn't make me a single parent (If you know of any, PLEASE e-mail me!) My baby has been going through a major developmental stage, and I am planning on launching my business.
Two Friday's ago my husbands grandfather passed away. We loved him so much, and he left a great legacy of hard work, and love of his wife and children that Wade and I greatly admire.
Hubby and I both agree that we will do whatever we can to make it to funerals and weddings in our family. We both think they are really important for keeping a family close.
The services were going to be in Nashville, TN a whole 8 hour drive south of us. We knew the only shot we had with the Diva that hates the car is to leave at night when she fell asleep and drive through the night. It was the most exhausting thing I have done beside child birth, no joke! I mastered nursing while driving, and when we arrived at his Aunts house we had stopped a total of 18 times arriving 11 hours later.
It was extremely hard, but worth it. We had a great week with the family, and I was so happy to get to know Wade's extended family more. There was a beautiful service and we were so happy that we were able to make it.
Our drive home? Not as hard, but a close second. It didn't help that I started out by driving an hour the wrong way!
Mother's day was celebrated with my family the day before (since we left Sunday), and it was great to be with my mom. It was also great to celebrate my first official mother's day, and "Capri" got me a gift certificate to the spa! (I think it was because she knew what she was about to put me through with the car ride!)
Well, aside from all the crazy.... Capri is five months old and hit many major developmental stages.
ALL in the last week and a half she can:
- Sit up (She did it a whole bunch one day last week, and has been doing it only every once in awhile since)
- Rolls over (from tummy to back). It's so cute to watch her lift her head up, and then her booty, and figure it out. She started doing this at the hotel in Nashville, and hasn't stopped since!
- She started bouncing (jumping) in her bouncy play gym! This is a big deal to me because I put her in this thing every day, and finally yesterday she started jumping!
- She will look at places you point too! On our trip we pointed to some ceiling fans, and she looked at them!
- She reaches for everything! She will reach for toys, things I am holding, my hair, anything in front of her. She also started reaching for people. If I am holding her, she will reach for Wade, and the other way around, its so cute!
- She developed a greater amount of control with grasping things! She can now take the pacifier (which she refuses to keep in her mouth), and she will hold it, put the paci in (the right way) and bite the nipple while pulling until it finally comes out. The only downside to her learning this? She has now started doing it while nursing....ouch.
- She tried a little bit of banana and loved it!

Such a princess, I'm so blessed to be able to see her every day and watch her become more and more gorgeous!
Welcome back!
It sounds like a crazy week!! I was getting so frustrated when I would check your blog multiple times a day and nothing, so today was a great day ha ha. And it's awesome to hear all the things Capri is doing, it's exciting!
We did the trip from FL to North West Indiana and back at Christmas time with 3 little ones. I feel your pain. We did it at night when the boys were sleeping. It wasn't easy! Hooray for developmental milestones reached!
