The Big BANG Theory

My mother in law gave me a lovely gift certificate to a very fancy salon and spa as a "push present" after Capri was born. It was originally meant to be for a massage, but I have debated about using it for a haircut with one of their "directors", who are the stylists that have a lot of experience, and charge the most.

I really want a fresh new look, something trendy and hot mama-ish. I have kept pretty basic with my hair for awhile, and I am ready for something really cute. I've been reading around about how bangs are really in right now. I have a long, narrow oval face, and I have read that this is the face shape that can handle the "big bang" or the "heavy bang". I have had the side swept bang for a long time, and only recently grew that out this past year or two.

Here are some pictures of a few different bangs:

These ones look like some I have sported in the past-

These are some other styles-
The Big bang, and since my hair is dark like hers, I am liking this photo.
Heidi rockin' the heavy bang-

One of my favorite shows, One Tree Hill has a character named Haley. She is sportin' a new do too, and I am so in love with it. My hair is thin and straight though, and I don't know if I could get it to look like this. I love not only the bangs, but the whole hair cut and would love this. Maybe it could work? What do you think?

I need help guys! I want to make the appointment and get this change! Please comment with your opinion on this, k?

XOXO

ok first...I totally love you!

second...I'm getting my hair cut and colored too!

third...The "Haley" is the cut I am seriously thinking of getting myself, bangs and all! But with some mild high lights.

just another mirrior image our lives seem to becoming. Crazy! I love you and miss you!

oh and obviously I like the Haley. Also the brunette above Heidi, I think you could totally rock those bangs!

I'm So in love with the short little bangs (like you picked in that third one down with blonde hair). I don't know which face shapes it works with. I don't know if you could do the big blunt bang because of your cowlick (sp?)

I would go with the longer bangs (with layers) in the 4th pic. That way you can make it thicker (all the layers foward) or thinner (pull the longer ones to the side) as you style....plus with thin hair layering is usually a good option. And I think you are right about the long oval face being able to handle big bangs...

funny enough I am going to go get some bangs on Wednesday. I just grew them out over the last few months, but I miss them.

Alright, I totally understand where you are at right now! You and I both have had the side sweep bang thing, and have grown it out for the past 2 years. About a month ago, I decided I needed a change, some bangs. So, Lauren cut 'em off, and I LOVE them. I didn't even experience the "I'll get used to them" feeling, I felt like a million bucks!
Carrington, DO IT! Ha ha. I think it will totally work with your hair. But honey, you're hair is not thin, it's thick, straight and heavy. You just need some weight taken out with some bangs and light layers and texture all around. I think it will look awesome! Let me know what you decide, and enjoy your day at the salon!
Love you
